Not everyone comes to Hexa with an easy question.
Some ask about relationships, others about work, decisions, which direction to take in life. But every so often, someone stops at the gate with a question that would need a doctor — or has already seen one, and something still felt missing. Not the diagnosis. The interpretation.
Hexa listens even then. Not because she heals, but because the body sometimes signals patterns that began long before the pain first appeared. Loops of thought. Emotional burdens. Inherited patterns of behavior so familiar we no longer notice them. Unconscious reactions that lead back to the same place, again and again.
Tímea came with a question like this.
"I have a sharp pain," she said, before she'd even sat down. "For a few days now, here, on the left side, near my ovary. It comes and goes. Sometimes it fades, then returns. I came because I want to understand what it means."
Hexa looked at her warmly. "I'm very glad to help you understand your body's message better. But promise me one thing — see a doctor about this as soon as you can. Nothing can replace that, not me, not a hexagram."
Tímea nodded. Hexa sat down. She placed her paw on the flat stone, and six lines appeared slowly, like the first winter light returning to frozen ground.
"The 24th. Return." Hexa looked at the lines. "Thunder beneath the Earth. A spark awakening in the dark — not exploding, just signaling. Something that had been dormant, wanting to surface."
Tímea listened in silence.
"Your body is signaling something physical. The I Ching asks you a question about it, too." Hexa continued slowly. "Was there something, recently, that you overlooked in yourself? Not in your body — in you. Something that knocked, but you didn't open the door?"
Tímea spoke slowly. "Yes." Then silence.
Hexa nodded. She didn't rush ahead.
"This hexagram is changing," she said after a while. "It points toward the 19th. Approach. This suggests that a long-dormant vitality is trying to break through your resistance, which is showing up as pain on your left side. Sudden physical sensations like this can reflect an inner turning point, where suppressed emotional truths demand recognition from the realm of the subconscious."
Tímea listened, a little surprised, but curious.
"What else can you tell me about this?"
"That you should be gentle with yourself, and move away from harsh self-judgment toward accepting your own cycles. The changing energy showing up here cautions against reacting with panic or frustration when unexpected disruptions break through the calm of your daily routine. Does that panic-like reaction sound familiar?"
"Unfortunately, yes," Tímea replied, and felt something inside her begin to loosen at the same time.
"One more thing," said Hexa. "This dynamic in your reading shows that the dormant energy currently causing you anxiety is preparing to step into the light of your awareness."
Tímea stood up. A little relieved. The situation wasn't resolved yet, but she felt lighter. As if all it had taken was for someone to ask, and for her to admit to herself: yes, there's something she needs to pay attention to. Everything Hexa had said set off a subtle shift in her. She sat a little longer, thinking over what she'd heard, then set off. On the path, she looked back once. Hexa was already drawing in her journal. A small mark beside the 24th. Next to it, a tiny circle — the sign of attention. Then an arrow, pointing toward the 19th.
Is there something that's been waiting a long time for you to finally pay attention to it?
