In Chinese tradition, the fox is a symbol of wisdom. That's how Hexa, the peculiar and wise fox, became the character of HexaInsight – guiding everyone who comes to her through the wisdom of the hexagrams, supporting each person with the guidance that fits them. Here you can read one episode from Hexa's Chronicles, where each time, through the real question of a real person, you may recognize your own themes, drawing from the ancient wisdom of the I Ching.
Szilvi stood at the gate for a long time.
She didn't know exactly how she had found her way here – someone had recommended it, someone else had shown her the path. Then she just walked, the way a person walks when they already know inside that they must go, but their feet haven't yet decided which direction.
The house was small. Old. In the garden, a peculiar fox sat on a stone – her fur was blue and purple, like an evening sky when the sun has already set but darkness hasn't yet arrived. Before her lay a flat stone, with six small marks on it – lines, whole and broken – as if she had just cast them. She looked up at Szilvi as if she had been waiting for a long time.
— So you're Hexa – said Szilvi.
— And you're Szilvi – answered the fox. – Sit down. Your lines are already here.
— My what?
— Your hexagram. Six lines – different for every person's situation. An ancient system, thousands of years old, that doesn't predict, but shows what forces are moving within you, around you, right now. – Hexa tapped the stone with her paw. – Yours is the 22nd. Grace. Beauty and form. What matters most is inner substance.
Szilvi sat down. She told what she had already told herself many times: the desire for change regarding work, regarding her relationship, a longing that stirs in her morning and evening... But somehow, during the day, it always gets postponed – she never actually takes a step.
Hexa listened. Then slowly spoke:
— The fire burns at the foot of the mountain within you. Do you see it?
Szilvi didn't understand, but something in the words felt familiar.
— The lower trigram, Fire – this is your inner longing, your enthusiasm, the part of you that is receptive to beauty. This is real. This is the force that from within fuels your desire for change. – Hexa paused for a moment. – But the upper trigram, Mountain – that is the solidity of outer circumstances, the quality of thoughtfulness. The mountain does not hurry. It reminds you that change also has its own rhythms.
— So should I wait?
— Not wait. Rather, observe. – Hexa looked at the lines. – The hexagram of Grace says: don't settle for merely mechanical change. Strive for the process itself to be beautiful, dignified. The path is not a sudden breakthrough – it is slow, elegant transformation, like how fire gradually illuminates the foot of the mountain.
— Is it that simple?
— It can be that simple. – Hexa yawned, the way foxes do. – I have a question for you. In your work, or in your relationship – which is the small thing that right now most calls for beautifying, for fine-tuning? Not the whole system – just one single detail.
Szilvi thought. For a long time. Then she said something quietly that was only hers.
Hexa nodded.
— Start there. Not with the big change. With a small gesture that can be done today. It might be a word, a smile, an object on the table. Something that makes beautiful what is now – while you're preparing for what is coming.
Szilvi stood up. She paused at the gate once more.
— Can I come back?
— Everyone comes back – said Hexa, already looking toward the next stone. – Or asks another question. The I Ching shows each time what is true right now – because you are also changing, and the situations around you are changing too.
What would you ask right now – about your work, your relationship, or something else?
