Would you try the ancient I Ching to see what it has to say about certain questions of yours?
Of course, the I Ching doesn't make decisions for us, but it can provide highly relevant answers and insights about which direction is worth moving in. And with that information, decision-making can become easier.
The I Ching is one of the oldest Chinese classics, which is not only a divination tool but also represents a profound philosophical system. People have been using it for centuries for decision-making, self-knowledge, and understanding change.
One of the most important areas and most common uses where its wisdom is applied is decision-making and strategy. When a person is uncertain about an important step (career choice, business decision, moving), the I Ching helps reveal the realistic dynamics of the situation and possible outcomes β rather than giving a concrete "yes/no" answer.
Here are some ways to approach it in a business context:
Complex decision-making (Royal Strategy)
Don't ask "What should I do?" but rather "What is the energy quality of the current situation?" If you understand the dynamics of the situation (e.g. turbulent, stagnant, growing), that itself reveals the right action.
Mastering timing (Wu Wei β action through non-action)
The I Ching teaches a great deal about when to be active (Yang) and when to remain passive and waiting (Yin). Many use it to find out: should I act now, or wait?
Crisis management and building resilience (Flexibility)
When someone is in crisis (job loss, illness, divorce), the I Ching always points to a "way out." Hexagram 40 (Deliverance) or Hexagram 24 (Return), for example, offer concrete spiritual support during dark periods.
Leadership and team-building guidance
The text deals extensively with how to gather people around you, how to delegate, when to be strict and when to be lenient with a team.
Mapping the dynamics of human relationships
It doesn't simply tell you whether two people "will get together" β it tells you how to behave toward the other person. For example: "Now patience and gentleness will bring results, don't be dominant."
Self-knowledge and Shadow Work
The hexagrams illuminate our inner contradictions. They often reveal hidden motives, fears, or futile resistance that we previously didn't have the courage to face.
Whichever resonates with you right now, the question itself matters β what answer are you looking for?
I built an app where you can easily try out what the I Ching has to say to you about the topics above, or anything else.
